The races of the event Resia Lake
For every participant the corresponding level
Each participant chooses his own level. The Olympic spirit “IT IS IMPORTANT TO PARTICIPATE“ is important at the Resia Lake’s race. Therefore both the ambitious runner and the hobby runner will find a suitable category. All participants are seen as winners and all those who do not participate have missed a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Main race
Every runner who is a registered member of a running association and has a valid medical certificate is allowed to participate in the main 15.3 km race. Participants are divided into 13 categories (female and male).
The first 5 athletes women and men of every category get an award directly after the race (Flower ceremony). The first 3 of every category receive noncash prizes at the award ceremony in the start/finish area at 9 pm.
Just for Fun / non competitive race
All enthusiasts runners (without membership of a running association) and runners without a regular medical certificate can participate in the non-competitive categoryv- Just for Fun. There is no division into categories and there is no prize-giving ceremony.
The personal time is timed and announced.
Summing up:
- no requirement for a sports medical certificate
- no obligation to be a member of a running association
- no classification but timekeeping
- no prize-giving ceremony
- every participant is entitled to a rich race package upon registration
Nordic Walking
Nordic walkers are also welcome to participate in the Resia Lakes’race.
In this category the participants are divided and evaluated in one category (class 1900 – 2008).
AFor organisational reasons, there will be no marshals or judges to monitor compliance with Nordic Walking technique. The organisers count on the sporting fair play of the participants. Jogging or mixed forms of running and jogging are not tolerated. Constant ground contact and active use of the upper body are decisive.
Due to the fact that the Nordic Walking technique is not checked, the prize will not be awarded to the fastest person, but 10 athletes will be drawn by the organizer and get the noncash prizes immediately after crossing the finish line.
Reasons why I want to participate as a Nordic Walker:
(despite the absence of competition judges):
- Doing sport with a large group of enthusiasts
- Experience the atmosphere of a competition
- Compete with friends or like-minded people
- Enjoying the wonderful natural landscape around the beautiful Lake Resia
- Measure yourself against yourself – improve on the previous year’s result
- Enjoy the same services as the participants
(such as race package, massage, catering, showers, etc.)
Handbiker
One of the most important category of the event is the Handbiker. It is a great honour for us to have disabled athletes as participants. They start a few minutes before the main race and are frantically cheered by the audience.
Children race
Every year around 500 children between the age of 8 and 16 participate.
The youngest run around lunchtime. Depending on their age, they run a track of different lengths. Each child is cheered on by numerous spectators and feels like a winner. The children are rewarded with various surprises as soon as they cross the finish line and in the prize-giving ceremony.

No medical certificates or membership of running associations are required for the children. The bib number hand out is possible until 12 am.
